PPC blue and PPC blue Romania will install 106 fast and hyper fast charging points on major European routes, with funding from the European Union

• Funding of up to €3.42 million from the European Union to PPC blue and PPC blue Romania under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF)
• The 150kW and 350 kW charging points on the TEN-T routes will improve the experience for electric

PPC blue and PPC blue Romania have jointly secured new European funding through the “Connecting Europe Facility” (CEF) funding mechanism, for the installation and operation of fast charging DC publicly accessible chargers, via European Climate, Infrastructure & Environment Executive Agency CINEA.

The Extended East Europe Electric Route – BlueRoute 4E project represents an important milestone in the expansion of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Greece and Romania, directly supporting the European objectives on the decarbonization of transport and the development of electric mobility along the TEN-T corridors.

PPC blue and PPC blue Romania will significantly expand the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Greece and Romania, using European funds, to improve the travel and transport experience on major European routes. More specifically, they will receive funding of up to €3.42 million from the European Union under the CEF – Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility program to deploy 106 hyper-fast charging points across 34 strategic locations in both countries. The project includes the installation of 98 recharging points with a minimum power of 150 kW, dedicated to light vehicles (LDV), as well as 8 recharging points with a minimum power of 350 kW, intended for heavy vehicles (HDV).

The Chief E-Mobility Officer of PPC Group, Miltiades Bampilis, stated that: “Building on the successful implementation of the CEF funded project “East Europe Electric Route (Blue Route 3E)”, PPC blue is advancing to the next phase of its strategy with the launch of the Blue Route 4E programme in Greece and Romania accelerating the transition to electric mobility and connecting Eastern Europe to the European alternative fuels infrastructure network. As a natural step in the development of charging infrastructure, Blue Route 4E involves the deployment of strategically located high-power charging stations for LDVs & HDVs. Through close collaboration between Greece and Romania, PPC Group reaffirms its commitment to enhancing green mobility and supporting Europe’s transition towards a climate-neutral transport system.

BlueRoute 4E is a natural new step in our strategy for accelerated charging infrastructure development. The implementation of the project involves complex construction works, the installation of the stations and their connection to the electrical networks, but beyond the technical component, the stakes are much broader: we are building a robust, reliable and future-proof network that meets the growing expectations of our customers. Through this project we want to offer customers a simple, fast and barrier-free experience, supported by strategically located high-power stations, so that the transition to modern, silent and non-polluting road transport becomes an accessible reality for more and more users", said Andreea-Dana Popescu, General Manager of PPC Blue Romania.

The charging stations will be strategically located in the vicinity of the TEN-T road networks, at a maximum distance of 3 km from the exits of the route, ensuring permanent access (24/7), interoperability, compliance with AFIR standards and facilities dedicated to people with reduced mobility, for an accessible and barrier-free user experience.

The funding of the project is part of the broader European strategy to develop sustainable transport and rapidly increase charging infrastructure and the production and distribution of renewable and low-carbon fuels.

PPC Group, committed to sustainable development and environmental protection, acknowledged its role in the penetration and growth of E-mobility in the country. PPC serves as the vehicle for PPC blue to offer integrated services, making e-mobility affordable and accessible to all through its network of chargers, with a total of over 4.000 charging points in Greece and Romania. The objective of becoming the most important player in the new electric mobility market in the Southeast European region, by making significant investments in the development, management and operation of the most extensive electric vehicle charging network and by providing innovative services, describes PPC's ambitious plan.
